At the second conference between the OCA and the Guangzhou 2010 Asiad Bid Committee held before the press conference

The Joint Press Conference held in Garden Hotel

Mr. Celso Dayrit, Vice President of the OCA
"We are greatly satisfied with Guangzhou's presentation for 2010 Asiad bid this morning and are fully confident on the city's capability of hosting the games." says Mr. Celso Dayrit, Vice President of the OCA at a press conference held this evening (April 15th).
Mr. Dayrit says the members are confident on Guangzhou's plan, preparation and presentation for the bid and they will be greatly satisfied with the sports facilities in the city if they are built just as the presentation.
"We are also deeply impressed by the Guangzhou's potential of future growth and looking forward to its growth," says Mr. Dayrit.
"The people in Guangzhou impress us the most by their warmness, humbleness and cooperativeness, which will ensure the success of the 2010 Asian Games." Says one of the members of OCA.
The Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games Bid Committee, encouraged and inspired by the positive evaluation of OCA, will seriously deal with the questions and suggestions that the members have put forward, and carry out a series of measures to improve the concerned aspects, expresses Mr. Xu Deli, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province at the briefing.
Guangzhou also has the capability and willingness to observe the rules and regulations of OCA, which is one of the standards that a city must meet to bid for Asiad, adds Mr. Zhang Guangning, Mayor of Guangzhou.
He also says that although the evaluation tour will conclude soon, the city's work of Asiad bid is far from ending.
There are two aspects of qualification for the bid, says Mr. Dayrit: 1) The conditions of transportation, security, medicine, facilities, etc. according to the expectation of OCA; 2) The government's guarantee for the bid
After a city has been selected, the OCA Corresponding Committee will be set up to handle the communication between OCA and the city, and will cooperate with the city to hold the Games, he says, the committee also has the right to cancel the city's right of hosting the Games if its operation fail to meet the standard.
When being asked the attitude towards Kuala Lumpur's withdrawal from the competition, Mr. Dayrit says though they find the city is also capable of hosting the Games in the evaluation, there is an essential factor lacking in its presentation: the government guarantee.
"No matter Kuala Lumpur is in the competition or not, we will depend on our own ability and conditions to win the approval of OCA and other nations in Asia," says Mr. Xu at the end of the press conference.
