An exhibition of paintings featuring Guangzhou is to kick off in Guangdong Museum of Art on April 13, with an aim to boost Guangzhou's bid for hosting the 2010 Asian Games.

A total of 200 pieces, the exhibited works are selected from a 3000-pieces collection by local citizens in an event named "Picturesque Guangzhou 2010".

Launched in March 31, the event caused a great sensation in the city, with a lot of residents and students contributing to the collection, expressing their inspiration and imagination about the city's future development through their works.

The exhibit may last for one week, according to the Guangdong Museum of Art.
