Guangdong recently released a list of the province top 50 enterprises in 2006. The Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd topped this year's list with annual revenue of 223.517 billion RMB.

The gross revenue of the top 50 enterprises surged to 3 trillion RMB, up 20 percent than that of last year.

The Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., Hongfujin Precision Industry Co., Ping An Insurance (Group) Co., and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation Guangdong Branch still rank the top four enterprises, with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. ranked the fifth.

The Southern Power Grid, Guangdong Mobile, Guangdong Telecom, China Merchants Bank, and China National Offshore Oil Corporation Shenzhen Branch achieved a profit of over RMB 10 billion respectively, and they contributed over half of the profits earned by the top 50, according to officials from the Guangdong Statistical Bureau and Guangdong Economic and Trade Commission in charge of compiling the two lists.

More than a half of the listed 50 industrial enterprises are from manufacturing industries, 14 of which are from electronic manufacturing.

There are 5 new faces in the list this year, including the OCT Group, CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Co., Ltd., (Shenzhen) International System Technology Company, Shenzhen Telling Communications Corp. and Dongfeng Honda Engine Co., Ltd..
