The interflow of talent between Shenzhen and Hong Kong will grow substantially with the increased economic and trade links between Hong Kong and the mainland, the Permanent Secretary for Economic Development and Labor, Matthew Cheung, said Sunday.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the job fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, held for the first time by the Shenzhen Municipal Government.
The fair, offering more than 3,600 vacancies, attracted more than 10,000 people, of whom some had come from other countries. Most of the applicants said they were interested in jobs offered by 51 government departments, which were seeking 318 employees, including 31 positions for super-grade consultants. Other positions included civil engineers, finance analysts, statisticians, lecturers and a health management expert.
The Hong Kong liaison office for the Shenzhen international talent market was opened after the ceremony.
The recruitment follows a cooperation agreement signed in June by Shenzhen and Hong Kong to enhance cooperation in areas such as tourism, logistics and financial information.
Another 227 companies sought talents at the fair while 123 took the opportunity to promote their own products.
The Hong Kong employees will be employed on fixed terms of one to three years. They will be eligible for favorable policies in paying income tax. Editor: Catherine
