According to the introduction of an official of Huilai foreign trade & economy bureau, Hong Kong had made 150 tons lichee exporting orders up till now. And the first batch, 15 tons lichee, was directly transported to Hong Kong as they were picked from trees on 6th July.
Huilai is the largest producing area of lichee at eastern Guangdong with the planting area 210 thousand mu. But the lichee business has been not so good for many years, it forces farmers don’t dare to put this business into international market. The government attempts to find some ways to solve it out. They offer some kinds of the man-process products to develop the lichee business, e.g. lichee wine. At the same time, the government eyes on international market.
After Huilai’s lichee direct sale to Hong Kong, all the farmers praise the government’s behavior and ideas. An 80 year-old farmer of Huilai, Wu Yiwang, said he has been much busier than before.
