The Trade and Industry Department(TID) of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has approved the first Application for Certificate of Hong Kong Origin-CEPA (COCEPA), which is related to medicine products, the department told Xinhua Saturday (Dec 4th).
To claim zero import tariff under Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), products exporting to the Chinese mainland must be accompanied by a COCEPA issued by the Trade and Industry Department or one of the Government Approved Certification Organizations (GACO).
By the end of 11:00 p.m. Friday, the TID has received 18 applications. Of which, 11 are related to medicine products, four to paint and the other three to electronic, chemical and plastic products, the TID said.
The TID said that each application will be approved within 1.5 days if all the documents are prepared for the department.
The TID and GACO began accepting applications from Dec. 30, 2003. The TID expected that there will be more applications approved in the next week. Editor: Wing
