Shenzhen: government reduces fees
Latest Updated by 2003-07-04 09:08:39

The local government will cancel five administrative charges and lower the standards of another five items Saturday.

The canceled items include charges on border crossing application, notary qualification tests and the national law test.

Charge for enterprises and institutions hiring foreigners will be lowered from 100 yuan (US$12) to 10 yuan per head, decreasing by 90 percent, while the number for employees from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan was reduced from 80 yuan to 10 yuan.

According to the new rule, government institutions are not allowed to collect fees without permission and must have prior approval of their charging procedures. If there is no prior approval, any unit or person charged can refuse to pay and may file a complaint with the Shenzhen Municipal Pricing Bureau.
