The Doha 2006 Torch design is aesthetically modest, elegantly simple and functionally light. 1.3 kilograms and 720 millimeters tall, the Torch was inspired by the curve of horns of the Arabian Oryx, (the national animal which also inspired the Games mascot), the colors of the Qatari white and maroon flag, the country's bright heritage and the shining future.
The emblem of the 15th Asian Games appears on the white illumination while the goat leather mid section is embedded with Olympic Council of Asia's Sun icon. The Asian Sun is imposed on the stainless steel cap. It also shapes the top of the Torch with the Flame representing its core.
Wind resistant to 60 kilometers an hour, the Doha 2006 Torch is a unifying symbol that sums up the ever-burning desire to merge and light anew the spirit of competition and friendship through Asia.
The Torch was designed by the Ceremonies and Cultural Events Directorate at the Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee.
