A path in a former tractor factory in east China has drawn streams of film and TV show makersto shoot stories on Deng Xiaoping, late paramount Chinese leader who paced that path frequently during his downturn time.

This year is the 100th anniversary of Deng's birthday, and the enthusiasm in shooting films or TV documentaries on the great man has been on the rise.

A number of studio teams have turned their cameras on a small storied building, where Deng once lived, and the path in front of it, in the factory in Xinjian County of Jiangxi Province.

CCTV, the nation's leading TV services operator, was busy on the site finishing its epic 20-part series "Deng Xiaoping". Meanwhile, a 16-part series "Hard Time" and a film "Deng Xiaoping and His Son" were being shot at the factory.

Between 1969 and 1973, Deng was banished to the tractor factory, now a textile factory that has stopped production, to do some manual labor. He and his family lived in the building and he himself created the path by his extensive walking while meditatingon the future of China, when the country was in the chaos of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976).

It is believed that Deng thought there how to end the disastrous Cultural Revolution and how to revitalize the country'sweak economy, which he later realized by his launching of the historic reform and opening-up polices in late 1970s and early 1980s.

The building and the path were largely maintained intact by thelocal government, as the tractor factory was transformed in 1989 into the textile factory which later was ordered to stop production amid a nationwide cut-down of small textile factories to raise the efficiency of the industry.

According to the county's tourism bureau, there have been about10 provincial TV operators shooting at the site starting this year, and what was called "Deng Xiaoping's Path" has become a tourist attraction for more and more visitors from home and abroad.
