"Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China," is one of the most popular songs in China.
On June 26, a memorial occupying 6,000 square kilometers, opened at the birthplace of the song, Tangshang Village of Beijing's Fangshan District.
In October 1943, Cao Huoxing, a member of an anti-Japanese publicity squad, came to the village and wrote the words to the song, which was then titled "Without the Communist Party, there would be no China," based on the musical structure of a local folk song.
In 1950, late Chinese leader Mao Zedong changed its title to " Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China," so as to indicate the achievements of the CPC in a more precise way. Editor: Yan
