General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and President of the Supreme Soviet Presidium Mikhail Gorbachev visiting China from May 15th to 18th, 1989, marking the normalization of relations between the two parties and countries.
During his talks with Gorbachev, Deng Xiaoping pointing out that the purpose of the meeting was to put an end to the past and open up the future.
