>>>Special Report: 100th Canton Fair

"Though the first phase of the 100th Chinese Export Commodities Fair (CECF) was closed, my business in Guangzhou does not finish. "South America businessmen Julian said at a leather products market near Ziyuangang. He ordered 2,000 sports shoes and 50 dozen leisure clothes in two shops.

"The peak time for business came after the first phase of the CECF." Huang Zhixiong, president of Guangzhou Jinlongpan International Trading Square told the reporter, "Transactions in the Square increased 30 percent."

Coming out of the exhibition hall of the CECF, businessmen from the Middle East, South America, Africa and Southeast Asia went to other places seeking their favorite products, mostly sports shoes and jeans.
Huang said, "Foreign businessmen are very interested in wholesale markets and many of them asked shop owners to bring them to production bases."

Foreigners crowded into antique streets and artware streets of Guangzhou, looking for Chinese style artware.

Zou Yongsheng, owner of a porcelain shop on Yuansheng Chinaware & Jade Artware Street in Liwan District, said, "During the CECF recess period, foreign customers increased 90 percent."

Owners of wholesale markets told the reporter that in recent years, more and more foreign businessmen come to wholesale markets after visiting the CECF. Instead of hiring temporary translators, now they have their own representative to help them get bargains and sign contracts.
