The 100th Chinese Export Commodities Fair (CECF), to be held from October 15 to 30, will mark its golden jubilee by hitting a record high in terms of scale.
To commemorate the milestone, organizer the China Foreign Trade Centre yesterday published two books, "100 Sessions of Glory" and "Experiencing Canton Fair."
The Chinese Export Commodities Fair, also called Canton Fair, is a biannual event, which has been held in the spring and autumn in Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province, every year since 1957.
The 100th fair will feature a record number of 31,408 standard booths 1,350 more than the 99th session. The fair will have a total exhibition space of 282,000 square metres.
Fifty trade delegations and more than 14,000 enterprises an increase of 315 from the previous session will take part in the fair.
By September 21, fair organizers had sent invitations to 290,000 purchasers around the world.
The 15-day fair will be divided into two phases, the first will run from October 15 to 20, and the second from October 25 to 30. The event will be held simultaneously in two exhibition halls the CECF Liuhua Complex and the CECF Pazhou Complex.
The first phase will display textiles, garments and health products among other products in the CECF Liuhua Complex, while household appliances, tools, small vehicles, and other hardware are displayed in the CECF Pazhou Complex.
From October 25 to 30, farm produce, foodstuffs, tea and kitchenware will be exhibited in the Pazhou Complex. Gifts, decorations, toys, sporting goods, and office supplies will be on display in the Liuhua Complex.
Fair organisers have launched an online service tool called BEST (Buyer E-Service Tool), available at www.cantonfair.org.cn, which provides an online platform for purchasers to get information and register. This year the fair will also display special posters informing visitors about intellectual property rights.
