Government departments of Guangdong and Hainan Provinces signed a series of cooperation and development agreements on electricity, trade, technology, agriculture and tourism yesterday evening (June 5).
According to the agreements, South China power grid and Hainan power grid will build a 500 kilovolt undersea alternating current cable in order to ease the electricity shortage in Hainan.
This extra-high-voltage long-distance cross-sea project will cost 1.66 billion yuan and is expected to be completed in June, 2006. The two provinces also signed agreements on labor exchange and tourism cooperation.
