Luohu Checkpoint opens e-channels

A mainland traveler passes a do-it-yourself clearance passage at Shenzhen's Luohu Checkpoint to enter Hong Kong yesterday.

The checkpoint opened e-channels yesterday (Jan 1st),which allow passengers to pass the border simply by placing a travel permit on the automatic card reader and putting the thumb on the fingerprint scanner.The Hong Kong side opened such channels in mid-2005,enabling travelers to cross the border within seconds.
