China's Central Military Commission (CMC) has appointed Major General Liu Liangkai as political commissar of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).
Lieutenant General Yang Deqing, political commissar of the PLA Guangzhou Area Command, visited Tung Chee Hwa, chief executive of the HK SAR Government, Tuesday, to inform him of the appointment.
Present were Yang, Liu and Major General Wang Jitang, command of the PLA HK Garrison.
Meanwhile, a CMC degree signed by Chairman Jiang Zemin appoints Liu's predecessor General Wang Yufa as the political commissar of the Air Force of the PLA Chengdu Area Command.
Liu was previously political commissar of the PLA Garrison in the Macao SAR.
