Chen Bingxi, so called "King of Ice", was sentenced to death for methamphetamine production and trafficking by the Guangzhou Medium People's Court yesterday. His wife and co-conspirator Chen Baoyu were sentenced to eleven and a half years imprisonment for the same offence according to the Information Times.

Chen Bingxi was convicted for producing, selling and transporting as much as 12.36 tons of methamphetamine (so called "ice") and illegally crossing international borders.

The trial started twenty-two months ago and proceeded through several session openings, supplementary law suits and suit changes.

Another seven conspirators were sentenced respectively to death (however execution of the verdict will be held indefinitely) and imprisonment.

All the "ice" resulted from Chen Bingxi's collaboration with Liu Zhaohua, another of Guangdong's "ice" tycoons.

Chen Bingxi was born in Puning, Guangdong in 1956 and had been operating a drug business for several years which started with heroine.
