A resident surnamed Ye in Nanshan District donates blood in Huaqiangbei yesterday, one day after the city's blood center issued a call Monday (July 17) for local residents to donate type O blood, which is in short supply.
A total 118 people donated 40,000 milliliters of type O blood yesterday, twice the normal amount. There was only 20,000 milliliters of type O blood in the bank as of Sunday, which was enough for one day's use for the city, the center said. The bank needs at least 130,000 milliliters to be safe.
