Kylie Minogue(center) photo: xinhua | After recovering from the battle with breast cancer, which concluded with chemotherapy in last December, international pop star Kylie Minogue says she still lacks strength and energy. The singer was given the all clear at the beginning of the year but confessed the gruelling chemotherapy treatment has left her with a "mountain to climb" to get back to full health.
"I feel had I not discovered (that I had cancer) until a little later, the story might be very different. So, overall I feel that I was saved. I really was."
Minogue,38, feels her public discussion about her cancer has led other young women to become more aware of the illness and getting check-ups. As a result, she hopes "lives were potentially saved just by becoming more aware" of the cancer.
Minogue also explained in a candid TV interview how the terrifying ordeal allowed her to bond with the sick children she meets through her charity work.
She said: "I think I was pretty compassionate before but now I have a much deeper understanding of what it is to have a trial to go through."
"Now when I visit the children's hospital, which I always used to do before, they know that I know (what they are going through)."
Minogue was diagnosed and underwent surgery for her illness last May. She is set to continue her Showgirl tour this November in Australia.
