Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise was in London on Tuesday to promote his new action film, Mission: Impossible III, but spent more time gushing about his delight at the birth of daughter Suri than the British premier of his new movie.

Suri was born a week ago in Los Angeles.

Asked if he missed his new-born child while being away, Cruise said "how can you not, she's beautiful."  

He further disclosed that since he left his Los Angeles home on Monday, he had called fiancee Katie Holmes "about a billion times" to check upon the baby.

Cruise once again brought up the topic of his daughter's name. "We thought it was a really nice, sweet name. A lyrical name." He explained Suri has origins in both Hebrew and Persian, meaning "princess" and "red rose" respectively.

Cruise was also proud of his diaper duties, saying, "I'm excellent at changing nappies. I love it!"
