Angelina Jolie will return as sexy tomb raider Lara Croft in the third movie in the series. She is already planning a punishing fitness regime to regain her figure after she gives birth.
Ian Livingston, the creator of video game heroine Lara Croft, said: "Paramount has optioned it and Angelina has agreed to star in the third. If the (new) game is as successful as the others it's likely Paramount will put the third movie into production soon."
The last "Tomb Raider" film "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life" — made on a US$90 million budget — grossed US$65 million in the North American box office.
Jolie squeezed into the famous hot pants to play Lara in the previous two hit Hollywood movies which propelled the value of the "Tomb Raider" licensing industry to over US$1 billion.
And Lara herself -- or her computer game version -- was recently awarded a Guiness world record as "Most Successful Human Videogame Heroine."
The past 10 years have seen Lara Croft sell over 28 million games worldwide, appear onstage with U2 and appear on the cover of over 200 magazines.
