Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth during the weekend to her second child, a son she and her husband have named Moses, a family spokeswoman said on Monday.
The child arrived safely in New York. "Mum and baby are both doing well. I'm sure they are ecstatic," the spokeswoman added.
Paltrow, who won an Academy Award as best actress for her role in the 1998 film "Shakespeare in Love" married Chris Martin in a secret ceremony in Southern California in December 2003.
Martin is the frontman of Britain's Coldplay and wrote the song "Moses" for Paltrow in 2003.
The couple has a daughter, Apple Blythe Alison, who will turn two years old in May.
