Construction of the widely-anticipated Twin Towers in Zhujiang New Town will soon commence, as the schedule for the West Tower has been finalized. According to the contractors, Guangzhou Construction Group and China State Construction Engineering Corp., construction of the West Tower will begin on January 26 and be completed by October 28, 2009.

The West Tower is located on the central axis of Guangzhou's new urban district and will emerge as a new landmark for the city. The East and West Towers will face Guangzhou's new TV tower, the world's tallest tower, across the river. They will become the most impressive man-made structures in Guangzhou.

The West Tower consists of a main tower, a suite office building, and an annex, with a total floor area of about 448,000 square meters. Built with a budget of more than RMB 1.1 billion, the Tower will become an integrated business center with office, hotel, leisure and entertainment facilities. The commencement of the West Tower project will have ripple effects throughout  Zhujiang New Town's Central Business District.
