A 1,135-kilometer long oil pipe line will soon be put into use in Guangdong. The pipe line, which cost 3 billion yuan to build, begins in southern Guangdong's Zhanjiang city and ends at eastern Guangdong's Shenzhen city.
The pipeline will be able to transfer 9.5 million tons of refined oil every year, covering 11 cities in the Pearl River Delta.
According to insiders, compared to sea transportation, this pipe line will reduce the influence of weather and ferry delays. Oil will be supplied from oil refineries inside Guangdong. The pipe line will connect to another key pipe line, which runs cross 4 provinces including; Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan, via Maoming city. It is expected to act as an important energy artery for south China.
