On September 12, 2006, the new Guangzhou Customs office building was officially put into service and the Service Halls on the first floor started public service. The new office building has given prominence to the four centers of Document Checking , Risk Management , Computer and Testing Center.
September 12 was the third anniversary of the State Council granting Guangzhou its Customs status. At 8:45, Guangzhou Customs held a simple and grand unveiling ceremony of the new office building.
The new Customs office building is located by the Zhujiang New Town Exit of Metro Line 3, with foreign service as its emphasis. The two wings on the first floor are Foreign Service Halls. The East Wing handles the approval of international exhibitions and embassy articles for use, tax deduction and tax-free service. The West Wing deals with the payment of tax and duties, E-port Card Production and other services. The Guangzhou Haiyin Branch of the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China has set up an office there.
Guangzhou Customs said the new office building will be open to the public periodically so as to improve the public's understandings of Customs.
