The instant view yesterday of the connection of No. 7 flyover bridge along Metro Line 4.
Guangzhou's first elevated subway section, the viaduct on the 7th bid section of Metro Line 4, was completed this morning, two days ahead of schedule. The completion of this viaduct means that the entire elevated subway section between Dongyong Station and Toyota Auto City Station is now complete, making the section the first completed elevated subway section between two stations on the metro line.
According to builders, three creeks, Sanqing, Shangqing and Shipai Creeks, presented considerable difficulty to the construction of the 7th bid section of Metro Line 4. The 300-ton girder-erecting machine had to be disassembled, transported across the creeks and reassembled three times. Massive silt deposits of up to 35 meters in depth in the creeks also posed a serious hindrance to the construction. To prevent the bridge from abruptly subsiding, builders installed 700 tons of steel piles to brace the bridge for this section.
It's reported that the main structure of the six new elevated stations at Shiqi, Haibang, Diyong, Dongyong, Guangzhou Toyota Auto City and Huangge have largely been completed, with mechanical and electrical installations currently underway.
Running in a north-south direction, for a total length of 68.96 kilometers, Metro Line 4 starts from the south of the Science City and ends at Hansha. As Guangzhou's first subway line, Metro Line 4 will be extended to Huangge Station by the end of the year and to Huangge-Jinsha Station by June next year. When Metro Line 4 opens, local people will be able to enjoy sea views from the beach at Nansha after a less than a one hour ride from the city's downtown area.
