Construction work on phase III of the Chinese Export Commodities Fair <(CECF)> Pazhou Complex, which is a support facility project and a continuation of phases I and II, has begun. When completed, the whole complex will have capacity of 18,000 booths, which will greatly relieve the booth supply and demand situation.
The phase III Project is located to the South of Xingangdong Road and is separated by a road from phase I. The contractor for phase III, Guangzhou Engineering Contracting Group Corporation, explained that the project has an area of 100,529 square meters, made up of exhibition halls and the CECF Command Center Building. The exhibition building, with a net area of 80,000 square meters, will have four floors accommodating 11 exhibition halls capable of housing 4,356 booths and one basement level. The CECF Command Center Building will have 41 floors and two basement levels and an area of 96,000 square meters. Sources within CECF stated that, following completion, the area of the CECF complex would be 1,090,000 square meters, with 315,000 square meters of exhibition halls, making the Complex the largest international exhibition center in China and the third largest in the world. And, that the international standard exhibition facilities would be able to meet the requirements of various world-class exhibitions.
According to calculations made by exhibition professionals, the economic multiplier ratio of the international exhibition industry is 1:10. Some experts suggest that the multiplier effects of the exhibition industry include attracting large number of exhibitor personnel, both from home and abroad, which spurs consumption of goods and labor and promote the development of business and catering services. According to statistics, the expenditure of an exhibitor is two-to-three times that of a holiday maker. In addition, the host city needs to provide exhibitors with one-stop services, seminars and conferences, news and communications, and accommodation, all of which has an impact on the development of a number of local industries.
