Latest Updated by 2005-12-27 15:42:21

A 400-meter building, the tallest tower in China, will stand tall on Guangzhou's Zhujiang New City in 2009. The West Tower, one of Guangzhou Twin Towers began construction yesterday (December 26, 2005).

The super-tall tower will accommodate high-class office rooms, a five-star hotel, high-end product department stores, first-class flats, sightseeing towers and an underground shopping center. In addition, a VIP boarding passage will be built underneath the West Tower, where passengers can go through the boarding procedures to the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

The West Tower will cost about 6 billion yuan to build.
