China on Monday pledged to work with the Republic of Korea (ROK) to resolve the Korean peninsular nuclear issue.
"China would like to make concerted efforts with the ROK to address the Korean peninsular nuclear issue through dialogue and consultation," Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan told Chung Dong-young, the former head of the ROK Uri Party.
Tang said he hope ROK's leader will play active roles on safeguarding peace and stability of the northeast Asia.
Chung said the ROK appreciates the efforts China has made in promoting a peaceful settlement of the Korean peninsular nuclear issue.
Both Tang and Chung hailed China-ROK ties in terms of frequent and high-level visits, deep mutual trust and close trade cooperation between the two countries.
