Italian capital Rome's second biggest airport Ciampino briefly closed on Tuesday due to a false bomb alert.
An anonymous caller phoned the airport Tuesday morning claiming a bomb had been planted aboard a cargo plane headed for Malta, according to Italian news agency ANSA reports.
Police and explosive experts were subsequently called in to examine the aircraft but found no trace of a bomb.
In the meantime, six flights which had been due to land at Ciampino were re-routed to Pescara on the Adriatic coastline.
Ciampino, which is mainly used for charter and low-cost flights, remained closed for some 90 minutes in all.
