Three suspects have admitted that they masterminded Monday's explosion in a Moscow market "out of ethnic hatred," said Moscow chief prosecutor on Tuesday.
Investigation has revealed that suspects Ilya Tikhomirov and Oleg Kostyrev conspired to set off a bomb at the Cherkizovsky marketplace northeast of Moscow, Moscow city prosecutor Yuri Syomin told a press conference.
Valery Zhukovtsev, another suspect, was told to keep watch while his accomplices were setting off the bomb.
It was not clear whether the suspects, all under 25, were members of a certain organization. However, police will try to find possible accomplices and verify their possible involvement in other crimes, Syomin said.
The bomb went off at the Eurasia trade pavilion of the market on Monday morning, killing 10 people and injuring another 55.
Among seven of the 10 identified dead were two Russians, three Tajiks and two Uzbeks. The other three victims, including two children, remain to be identified.
The blast, which occurred between two containers, was caused by a homemade bomb of a force equivalent to up to 1.2 kg of TNT explosive. A gas cylinder happened to be near the bomb, which made the explosion even more powerful.
