South African President Thabo Mbeki Tuesday expressed his outrage and condemnation of the blast in Mumbai, India, which caused heavy casualties.

Seven powerful bombs Tuesday ripped through crowded commuter trains in Mumbai, killing at least 137 people and wounding more than 300 others.

In a message of support to his Indian counterpart Abdul Kalam, Mbeki said, "The government and people of South Africa join the international community in expressing its outrage at the blasts in Mumbai today."

"In this regard we express our confidence that the Indian authorities will ensure that those responsible will face the consequences of their own actions," said the president.

"During this difficult moment we join the people of India in their hour of bereavement while reaching out to those who lost their loved ones and wishing those wounded a speedy recovery," he added.
