A bomb went off on Monday in a market in Hillah, about 90 km south of Baghdad, killing at least 15 and wounding dozens, a police source said.
The source said that the explosion occurred at around 8:20 p.m.(1620 GMT) in a market in central Hillah when there were lots of people shopping there.
The Shiite-dominated Hillah has witnessed a number of bloody attacks in the past.
On Feb. 28, 2005, a car bomb attack at a medical center in Hillah killed more than 110 Iraqi civilians and wounded around 200others, making it one of the worst single attacks since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.
