The 10th congress of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) opens on Monday (May 21) in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.

Deputies are expected to elect new senior officials for five-year terms on both the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and the Provincial Committee for CPC Discipline Inspection, as well as delegates to the 17th CPC Congress later this year.

More than 300 journalists from the Chinese mainland and overseas areas have been registered at the press center, including 40 foreign journalists.
