Rural residents' Minimum Living Security System will cover more farmers in 2007. Families whose per capita annual income is less than 1,200 yuan are now qualified to get social security.
This standard is 200 yuan higher than before. Guangdong governor Huang Huahua announced the new policy at a civil affairs conference yesterday (Jan. 22).
In addition, Huang added that the government will focus on building an anti-disaster emergency system and improving the social welfare system in rural areas.
