Governor Huang Huahua on the meeting

Guangdong, as the initiator of Pan Pearl River Delta (PPRD) regional cooperation, will continue to thrive this biggest economic bloc in China through six strategies, said Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong province.

In a meeting on promoting PPRD regional cooperation, Governor Huang Huahua identified 7 achievements of the 3-years-old PPRD region:

1.       the three annual forums and business fairs yielded over 2500 joint projects with a contracted volume exceeding 400 billion yuan.

2.       multi-level cooperation mechanism has been set up

3.       PPRD future cooperation has mapped

4.       Infrastructure within the regions were improved

5.       Open market within the region is taking shape

6.       Broaden the cooperation fields. The governments and other institutes of the PPRD members had signed 65 cooperation agreements, declarations and memos.

7.       The PPRD brand name and influence were strengthened.

In the future, Guangdong will focus on six strategies to further promote the PPRD cooperation:

1.       Research on long and short-terms strategies, work plans, mechanism and measures to ensure the sustainable development of the whole region.

2.       Detail the development plan for the whole region.

3.       Better the planning and communication of joint projects on highways, railways, waterways, air routes, energy and environmental protection, etc. Follow up the contracted projects in the past three regional biz fairs.

4.       Improve the related mechanisms so as to ensure smooth information exchange and provide efficient service to PPRD members.

5.       More international promotion of PPRD bloc.

6.       Support other members in promoting the cooperation. Support Hunan in preparation of the fourth PPRD forum and business fair and prepare for the 2007 PPRD executive chiefs¡¯ joint conference.
