A Nigerian airliner with more than 100 people on board crashed on Sunday near the airport in the capital Abuja, Nigerian media reported.
The Boeing-737, which was flying from Lagos to the northwest city of Sokoto en route Abuja, crashed shortly after taking off from the airport during a storm, Nigeria's state radio said.
The plane was carrying 104 passengers and crew members, RowlandIyayi, head of the National Air Space Management Agency, was quoted as saying.
No survivors had been found so far, according to the state radio. But the television station Channels said there were six confirmed survivors.
Local radio Ray Power FM said the plane was owned by Aviation Development Company, which had a serious plane crash in Lagos 10 years ago.
In November 1996, a jet belonging to the private airline plunged into a lagoon outside Lagos, killing all 143 on board.
