Guangdong consumes 0.79 tons of standard coal to generate a million RMB of GDP, down from 1.52 tons in 2004, according to central government's latest statistics. The figure represents that Guangdong outdoes other provinces in limiting energy cost for GDP growth.

The achievements will not be possible without the scientific development concept and the economic growth mode shift.

In recent years, Guangdong province has been engaged in adopting a more energy-saving economic growth mode and building a resource-efficient and environmental-friendly society. The provincial government has strived to enhance its innovation capacity, and great support has given to the enterprises with outstanding R&D performances.

The province will further improve its energy efficiency with an ultimate target to meet the developed country's related standards.
