Guangdong Medical Team finished their relief tour in tsunamis-hit areas in Thailand and return home yesterday, receiving hero's welcome from provincial government officials, their families and institutes as well as all walks of lives in Guangdong.
The officials of Thailand appreciate Guangdong medical team's excellent work, and thanks for the aids of Chinese government.
The group, featuring 12 medical experts on epidemics, leaved for Thailand to help tsunami victims on December 31, 2004. During the 10-day tour, they treated 403 wounded, performed 74 operations and did a lots of inspection and disinfection work. They had put forward 15 suggestions on epidemic prevention, which aroused the local government's attention.
The Shenzhen medical team, the second team of the province, is ready to go to the tsunami-hit areas.
