The final five design schemes of the new Guangzhou Railway Station is released to the public in the Guangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Center for citizens' polling from today (Sep. 8th) till Sep.18th.
Source reveals the new railway station locates in Panyu District, 17kms from downtown Guangzhou. When put into operation in 2008 as schedule, the passenger station, together with the old Liuhua Station and the East Station in the city, will form the fourth largest transportation hinge of the country.
The five design schemes out of 40 proposals, though with different styles, are all human-oriented and environment-friendly.
Design scheme No.1 (from China):

Concept: Lingnan Garden, keep the ecological environment around the station Programming Objective: To build the new station into a public transport hub with its surrounding area a high-standard and multi-oriented information center, foreign trade center, traffic center, technology center, education center and international tourism center
Design scheme No. 2 (from Holland):

Concept: Bridge-shaped railway station Programming Objective: To build the new passenger station into an ecology-friendly station.
Design scheme No. 3 (from Germany):

Concept: Lotus Town Programming Objective: To build the station into a "town" with critical structure, advanced technology and poetic atmosphere based on the concept of lotus.
Design scheme No. 4 (from USA):

Concept: Lingnan Water Town, featuring bridges and rivers Programming Objective: Emphasizing the integration of railway station, commerce center and communities, and to build the new station into a vigorous center with sights and waters.
Design scheme No. 5 (Sino-UK cooperation):

Concept: The only proposal taking the Piaofeng Mount of the district into account, keeping the original feature of the place to the greatest extent. Programming Objective: Establish an effective and convenient transport network to promote the coordinated development of Guangzhou-Foshan District.
