The helicopter takes off from the hospital's landing pad

A MD600N Rescue Helicopter takes off for the first time on the parking apron of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, and save two girls yesterday morning (Aug. 23), marking the hospital's start to offer air rescue.

The standard helicopter parking apron for hospital in Guangzhou will put in use in September. It only takes two minutes to fly from the parking apron to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In addition with the convenient road and railway transportation, People's Hospital builds a "green channels" for the outpatients, emergency treatment and patients with critical illness.

The Air Rescue Centre, built up by Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital and Guangdong General Aviation Corporation, located at Provincial People's Hospital. The air rescue hotline is 020-83880120.

The helicopter has state-of-the-art emergency treatment equipment with two medical staff available.

The rescue helicopter works around the clock for emergency response. The service is not limited to Guangdong Province, but also serves neighboring regions like Hong Kong and Macao.

But it's not cheap: it costs 15 thousand yuan, or 1,800 dollars, an hour and the helicopter can only transport a few casualties at one time.
