PPRD cooperation projects signed
The First Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Regional Economic & Trade Cooperation Fair kicks off with 473 projects, involving 241.2 bln yuan, signed today (Jul 14) in Guangzhou International Exhibition & Conference Center. Vice Premier Wu Yi, on behalf of State Council, sends a greeting message to the fair.
On the opening Ceremony, Government officials sign agreements for closer cooperation in transportation, labor affairs, talents training, food supply and marketing, power, etc, and some enterprises also ink big cross-provincial/regional cooperation projects.
A total of 473 Economic and Trade projects valued at 241.2 billion yuan are signed, 7 out of which are governmental projects. 61 Power infrastructure construction projects are signed, with contract value of 35.1 billion yuan; 230 projects, nearly half of the number in total, in the field of industry and investment involves 30.3 billion yuan; 44 economic and trade projects values at 21.5 billion yuan; 24 tourism projects are worth 2.9 billion yuan; 24 agriculture projects, 5 talents and labor affairs projects, and 51 science, technology and sanitation projects involve 4.2 billion yuan; communication construction projects and environmental protection projects amount to 52 and 5 respectively in number is with the investment of 2 billion yuan.
Vice Premier Wu, in her greeting message, shows her appreciation to the achievement '9+2' members have gained in cooperation so far and wishes the Fair a great success.

On the fair, from Jul 14 to 17, 8 sector-cooperation promotion conferences will be held with members as Jiangxi, Hainan, Sichuan as hosts. In the concluding press conference on Jul 17, the fair's achievements will be released.
The fair is a big regional cooperation platform for the implementation of PPRD frame agreement and CEPA, a free trade pact signed between the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao which took effect in January this year.
Pan-Pearl River Delta regional co-operation, featuring the largest economic bloc in China, was officially launched in early June to enhance economic ties.
The region, also known as "9+2," encompasses the provinces of Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan, Guangxi, and Hong Kong and Macao.
On the Fair, the '9+2' members reach agreement that the PPRD regional cooperation forum will be held annually, and the 2nd session will be in Sichuan in 2005. The 1st session is held in Guangdong last month.
