Chinese sports authorities have delayed the announcement of its Olympic delegation to next month's Athens Games as the rosters for several major sports remain undecided.
The announcement, originally scheduled for yesterday (July 13th), on the occasion of the third anniversary of China's winning Olympic bid, was postponed for a week until next Tuesday.
Insiders say the rosters for China's major medal hopeful events such as weightlifting, badminton, gymnastics and shooting are still up for grabs.
In women's weightlifting, China finds it difficult to choose the sole candidate as there are three or four lifters in each category that are capable of winning the gold.
China is expected to send around 400 athletes to Athens, with an aim of equaling the accomplishments in Sydney Games, when it took 28 gold medals.
