According to the recent Cultural Heritage Day Forum of Conghua City, over 30 techniques and customs have been included in the city's intangible cultural heritage list for protection. "Decorated Archway" ceremony, "Lamp lighting" "Ceremony, fish, shrimp and crab dances" and "Bamboo weaving crafts" are on the list.
The "Decorated archways" ceremony is a highlight of Conghua's rural areas. It is held in villages at different times, mostly around the time of the Lantern Festival, and usually at the square before a village's ancestral temple. The biggest ceremony is held on the evening of the Lantern Festival at the Wuyue temple of Mumian village, Taiping Town. Every year, nearly 10,000 people attend the event.
The "lamp lighting" ceremony is also a traditional folk custom in Conghua rural areas.
