The government of Guangzhou Municipality purchased the first batch of pork from Sichuan Province in order to meet the urgent needs. The pork was transported from Chengdou to Guangzhou on the afternoon of June 3rd. It was reported that this batch of pork weighed 600 tons, and the entirety of it was frozen products. After passing the quarantine tests, the frozen spareribs will be put into the consumer market, while the other meat will become industrial meat for the meat-processing factories. In this way, decreasing the need for the fresh meat.

According to The Economic and Trade Commission of Guangzhou Municipality, the price of fresh meat in Guangzhou tends to stabilize for about a week. In the Jiahe Pig-Trading Center, the trade price of the well-bred pig (first-rate pig) has declined to 13.7 Yuan a kilo, and the retail price of lean meat which is 26 Yuan a kilo has also lasted for a week. There were no large increases in price during this period of time. In this situation, after putting the frozen meat into the market, the supply and demand will be further balanced, and thus it is hoped that the price of the fresh meat will be reduced slightly.
