According to the panel discussion on the "Zhongluotan Town Eco-agriculture Program Guidelines", taking the opportunity of the 2010 Asian Games, Zhongluotan will be built into an "ecological" satellite town of Guangzhou.

Following the adjustment of Guangzhou's administrative divisions in April 2005, Zhongluotan Town is now composed of Zhongluotan, Zhuliao and Liangtian areas.

Experts from the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences have said that Zhongluotan Town has two major ecological sceneries: Liuxi River and Maofeng Mountain. The eco-economy area includes arable lands, orchards, woodlands, ponds, reservoirs, Liuxi River tributaries and green belts. A unique ecological town suitable for living and working will be established here.

The development of the urban ecological agriculture in Zhongluotan Town will be able to meet citizens' travel demands; they can enjoy leisure activities in the town during the holidays. The water quality of Zhongluotan Town is better than that of the urban sections. Groundwater quality is very good; and a large quantity of mineral water in Maofeng Mountain will provide sufficient drinking water for Guangzhou residents.
