Facing the continuous increase of meat prices, there is an abundance of pork supply in Guangzhou market, though the price is still relatively high. "At present, the quantity and the price are both in controllable range." said the relevant person in charge of Guangzhou's Economy and Trade Commission. "the stocked meat" will not be put to use in Guangzhou.

The Guangzhou Food Enterprise Group also said on the 24th that 2000 tons of frozen meat can be put into the market within this month in order to increase the market supply.

According to the predictions of some insiders, the present price of pork will last until late June or early July and it will begin to drop steadily starting in July. It has been estimated that the trade price of raw pork will maintain at about 12 yuan a kilo, and the frozen meat 16 yuan a kilo.

"According to the state guide of animal meat consumption, the recommended order is: fish, bird meat, egg, and pork. Pork comes last. If this price-rising can encourage people to have a change in their taste, and eat more fish and chicken, it will be good for their health.", stated Su Yixiang, professor and doctorial tutor of the Public Sanitation College of Sun Yat-sen University's  Nutrition Department.
