Urban transformation is not just about rebuilding old urban areas. This view was put forward at an ecological seminar in Building I of Nanhai Ecool, Shekou, Nanshan District, early this week.
The "City Transformation and Green Building Design Summit," organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Government and China Merchants Real Estate (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. (CMRE), was part of the just-concluded Third China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair held in Shenzhen. With the aim of "Invigorating Shenzhen with Culture" and "Making Shenzhen a City of Design," more than 100 government officials, renowned experts and senior architects attended the summit. The attendees not only presented audiences with models and successful examples of city transformation and green building designs, but also discussed concepts and explored ways to renovate old urban areas.
The participants showed great interest in CMRE's Nanhai Ecool renovation project, which is being transformed from the old Sanyo factories into an industrial park to accommodate innovative enterprises. It is seen as a milestone in the real estate company's green development strategy.
