The second "Traffic Week" series of activities began in Baiyun District on May 20th. In the coming days, over 180 citizens will inspect the city's 100 "model" intersections. The trained citizens, recommended by the districts' Civilization Offices, will inspect the intersections of Yuexiu, Baiyun, Tianhe and other 4 districts. For intersections with poor results, a notice of criticism will be issued by the jury to the responsible departments.

According to an official from the municipal Civilization Office, at present, many traffic offenses involve pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles. In light of this situation, the jury will focus on the inspection of 7 common traffic violations, including pedestrians or non-motorized vehicles running a red light, and pedestrians not walking between crosswalk lines.

For traffic offenses caused by inadequate facilities, the traffic police department said that they would improve traffic police performance, increase the number of traffic lights and barriers according to public demand, and add a large number of traffic signs, lines and other facilities.
