"The fair is really spectacular and impressive, it shows the capacity and talent of China in the creative industries sector for sustainable development and the competitive level of cultural production in China," Ina Kileva, deputy minister of culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, said in an interview Thursday after the opening ceremony of the Third International (Shenzhen) Cultural Industrial Fair (ICIF).
"Visiting the fair is like experiencing China's cultural diversity in just one day. Different cities with different traditions and cultures allow me to see the multiple faces of China through the fair," Kileva said.
In three hours, Kileva finished touring Halls 1 and 2, which showcase achievements in cultural development, traditional Chinese crafts and animation, and felt the elegance of Chinese bronze products, superb technique of Suzhou embroidery, and a minute wood carving of Riverside Scene At Qingming Festival, a famous painting which reflects people's life in the North Song Dynasty (960-1127).
"I was really impressed by the traditional masterpieces, the presence of traditional knowledge, models and styles, but also impressed by the techniques in the high-tech sector, especially video and optical products."
"Though Bulgaria does not have such a big cultural event promoted by the government, we have realized cultural industries have become a driving force for economic growth and a new driving force to create job opportunities," Kileva said.
It is the first time Kileva has visited China and attended the ICIF.
"The fair is a bridge for us to know what China, especially Shenzhen, is doing in promoting cultural industries and a chance to enhance bilateral cooperation," she said, hoping to learn more about Shenzhen's cultural industries during her four day visit. "Copyrighted industries such as book editing and distribution, movie production, animation and design developed quickly from 2004 to 2006, and now we are making special study of the economic contribution of copyrighted industries, which will give us statistical data for our government to introduce special policies to enhance the innovative industry sector," she said.
